Fabulous Friday

My Fabulous Friday is filled with packing, painting, cleaning, more painting and more packing.  Oh and probably a run to get more boxes and packing supplies.  Moving is a great reminder of how much crap you collect.  PURGE people, PURGE!  It’s good for the soul. 🙂

I have a few opportunities to post around the blog-o-sphere this weekIf you’re bored, you can check these out:

And to top off our Fabulous Friday, it’s a book-giveaway day!

I’ve got 5 copies of the new release The Guardian

A Mysterious Scroll Holds the Key to Mankind’s Destiny

A young woman thrust into a world of power and corruption…
The sold-out follower of Christ who vows to defend her…
And the scroll that links them both together…

Anna Riley has just stumbled across a family secret–her ancestors have been keepers of an ancient scroll that God gave to John the Disciple.  And now it’s hers.  But Anna will soon discover that being the keeper of the Scroll comes at a price, for there are those inside the Church who would have the scroll and its secrets at any cost.  Sucked into a world of corruption and deceit, Anna is thrust into a journey that leads her half way around the world.  And the only person she can trust is a stranger named Jason Lang who, she’s told, was appointed by God to help her with the task.

As Anna and Jason race against the clock, Anna’s own journey of faith may very well be the thing that unlocks the scroll’s secrets.  And her decisions will determine whether the man she’s grown to love will live or die, as a mystery that’s eluded the world since the time of Adam and Eve is finally revealed.

I’m usually a little wary of Christian fiction but this book was a great read!

One of my favorites is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I haven’t read any fiction in a LONG time! Pretty sure one of the last ones was Blink of an Eye by Ted Dekker (also a great read).

My favorite is by J. Mark Bertrand “Back on Murder”. It book 1 of the Roland March series.

My favorites are This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Perretti. They really opened my eyes to the spiritual warfare going on around us.

I’m not sure I’ve read any Christian fiction yet. Unless you count the jacket of The Shack. At least I think that’s Christian. Regardless it is on the top of my stack o’books to read should I ever, in this lifetime, finish The Case For Faith. 🙂

PS, thanks for the boxes reminder. I don’t know why that is so hard to remember when moving when its such a necessary item.

Anything by Liz Curtis Higgs, like ‘Thorn in My Side’. But her series of study (nonfiction) on women in the Bible is endearing and so extremely relatable. She is a really funny author!

Thorn in My HEART… I meant ‘Thorn in My HEART’!!! Haha! I bet Liz would laugh at that! She probably appreciates a good laugh!

My favorite Christian fiction book (series) is the Yada Yada Prayer Group. I love the entire series, though book 4 (dealing with spiritual warfare and unity among races) is my favorite book out of them all. They’re by Neta Jackson!

OK – so I’m new to Christian fiction so a friend started me with “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers.  I loved it because of the strong imagery of redemption and love (duh).  I have to admit that I am anxious to try new Christian fiction authors because some of it seems so poorly written.  I read lots of Janette Oke as a teenager but recently I’d have to say “Redeeming Love” was my favorite.  BTW, I love to read secular fiction and find scriptural themes & metaphors the authors never even knew they were using.

My favorite Christian fiction is the Chronicles of Narnia
